The School of Health Sciences conducts research on many aspects of health sciences, including public health, diagnostics, therapeutics, epidemiology, and the associated ethical, social, policy and legal issues. Examples of research topics can be viewed in the list of dissertation titles from the Ph.D. and Master’s degree programs, and in the faculty and research fellow pages. We also encourage persons of all ages to join the International Public Health Ambassador (IPHA) program to make a difference to the health of people in their community. The IPHA program also mentors participants on how to plan, implement and evaluate their action plans.
Important covenants of the Preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO), serve as guiding principles for the development of our University, which were important in guiding the formation of the AUSN Mission, Vision, and Philosophy. AUSN offers a number of “health related” academic degrees through the School of Health Sciences, including the Ph.D., the Masters in Public Health (MPH), the Masters in Bioethics and Global Public Health (MBGPH) and the Masters in Health Care Administration (MHA), and some postgraduate certificate programs.
All these academic degrees are currently offered through faculty of not only the School of Health Sciences, but also with faculty of the School of Medicine, School of Indigenous Peoples and Global Studies, and the School of Sustainability Science and Knowledge Traditions. AUSN provides a range of elective courses to fulfil the Mission of AUSN to assist each student on their path of discovery to be better able to serve the glocal community (global and local communities around the world).
